Service Limitations

What AnyCodeSMS can and cannot do. Read this before relying on the service for any important use case.

Effective May 22, 2026

1. Internet Connectivity Required

AnyCodeSMS requires an active internet connection for all functionality. Message delivery, calling, and voicemail depend on your network quality.

We do not guarantee uptime or availability. Carrier-side outages, telephony provider disruptions, and network conditions are outside our control.

2. Carrier and Sender Limitations

Some carriers, shortcode senders, and application-to-person (A2P) messaging platforms do not deliver messages to virtual or VoIP phone numbers. This is a carrier-side decision that we cannot control or override.

You may find that certain services do not send SMS messages to your AnyCodeSMS number.

3. OTP and Two-Factor Authentication

Delivery of one-time passwords (OTPs) and two-factor authentication (2FA) codes is not guaranteed. Many services block or deprioritize delivery to virtual numbers.

We provide verification readiness indicators in the app to help you assess likelihood of delivery, but we cannot guarantee that any specific sender or service will deliver verification codes to your number.

4. Voicemail

Missed calls that go unanswered for approximately 25 seconds are routed to voicemail.

  • Voicemail recordings are retained for 30 days, after which they are automatically deleted
  • Voicemail metadata (caller number, duration, timestamp) is retained in your call history
  • The voicemail greeting is a system default; custom greetings are not currently supported

5. Emergency Calling

AnyCodeSMS does NOT support emergency calling.

You cannot call 911, 112, 999, or any other emergency number through this service. For emergencies, use your mobile carrier's native dialer or a landline telephone.

6. Outbound SMS

Outbound text messaging is not available in the current version of AnyCodeSMS. The service is receive-only for SMS messages.

Outbound messaging may be added in a future update.

7. Number Provisioning

Phone numbers are provisioned from available inventory through our telephony provider.

  • Numbers are US numbers (NANP +1 country code)
  • We do not support number porting from other carriers
  • Numbers are virtual — they are not tied to a physical SIM card, address, or device
  • Number availability varies and is not guaranteed

8. Data Retention

  • SMS message bodies are automatically scrubbed after 30 days; message metadata (sender, recipient, timestamps) is retained
  • Voicemail recordings are deleted after 30 days; voicemail metadata is retained
  • All data can be permanently deleted by deleting your account

9. Not a Primary Phone Line

AnyCodeSMS is not intended as a replacement for traditional carrier service.

It is not suitable as a primary phone line, for regulated communications that require guaranteed delivery, or for any use case where missed messages or calls could result in harm. Use your mobile carrier or landline for critical communications.
